A Day in Wembley Park

A Day in Wembley Park

We’ve always known this area in North West London for the iconic music venue SSE Arena and for the Wembley Stadium, but little did we know that it’s also home to so much art, cool venues and fun things to do (and pretty swanky flats also)!

We started our day in Wembley Park with the famous salted caramel doughnuts at @breadahead, which has recently opened in the area, and they were absolutely incredible! We then headed to the next door BoxPark Wembley – the biggest one of the three – to check out the over 20 food and drinks vendors, which we found to be an exciting good mix of independent and established names. Apart from the foodie scene, they also host some pretty cool things to do such as a Virtual Reality experience, a cinema, live events and even an Axe Throwing Club. We tried to get some practice in and it was so much fun!

Our favourite part of Wembley Park though has to be the Art Trail Installations, which consists of different pieces of art all scattered around the neighbourhood. They are part of the extensive cultural program of live music, sports and entertainment designed for both local residents and visitors, and it’s definitely something you don’t want to miss! Many of them are revolved around incredible local artists and make full use of what’s available in the neighbourhood such as murals, trees or public spaces.

Without revealing too much, one of our favourites had to be the new use of three discarded telephone boxes named ‘Legends Calling’ in the Arena Square. Made by renowned artist and lighting designer Louisa Smurthwaite, this piece sees the figures of local Brent heroes George Michael, Twiggy, Arthur Wint, Amy Johnson and Jayaben Desai.

Embedded within the iconic red telephone boxes they float as blue lights representing the continuing reverberations of their outputs and achievements.

We definitely recommend to check out the downloadable digital map available here, which will help you to discover the meaning and significance behind each piece of art including some background about the artists. Some of them are really really interesting!

Lastly, for all fashion lovers, you will be pleased to know about the London Design Outlet! This shopping destination includes 70 high street outlet stores so we are sure you’ll have plenty of choices to browse around.

Wembley Park is only 12 minutes from Central London so now you have no excuse not to visit!
