Hotel Du Louvre - Paris

Hotel Du Louvre - Paris

Ah…Paris! It’ always a pleasure to come back to the city of lights. We can’t help but feel a little bit chicer and romantic when we are wandering through this city, does this happen to you as well?

This time for our stay we were looking for a hotel situated in a very central location that could help us to maximise our time whilst sightseeing, as we were only staying in Paris for two days. This is why we decided to stay at the historic Hotel Du Louvre, a Hyatt Hotel which is located exactly between the Louvre Museum and the Palais Royal, so we definitely found what we were looking for! Also Palace Vendôme, Palace de la Concorde and Le Marais neighbourhood are just a few steps away.

What is really interesting about the hotel and what really fascinated us is its historical heritage. Hotel Du Louvre was built in 1855 and commissioned by Emperor Napoleon III in person and it can be said to have been the very first Grand Hotel in Paris at that time. Quite fantastic, right?

Day 1

We started our first day with a nice breakfast at La Brasserie du Louvre, which is renowned for its very typically Parisian cuisine and atmosphere and offers an amazing buffet for breakfast.

We mentioned to the hotel that we wanted to take full advantage of our stay in the heart of Paris, so their guest relations team created a map for us so that we could visit everything that we wanted to see. They also told us that on Wednesdays they offer free Guided Tours to guests not only are staying in the hotel, but even to ones that have just come in for breakfast or lunch.

We started with a map called Quais de Seine, which gave us the opportunity to see the Eiffel Tower from Trocadero, the Grand Palais and the Musée d’Orsay.

We then headed off to Le Marais, where all the pretty cafes are. This is one of our favourite areas of Paris as it includes loads of hidden gems and so many Instagramable spots!

We also paid a visit to Paris’ Notting Hill – as we like to call it – which is the colourful Rue Crémieux.

After having walked a whooping 11.5 miles, we went back to our beautiful hotel for dinner at La Brasserie. The menu is typically French with a subtle blend of flavors prepared by the chef, Denis Bellon. Each week, the restaurant offers a new menu showcasing amazing local produce and seasonal flavors.

Day 2

We woke up really early as we absolutely wanted a tourist free shot of the Eiffel Tower, which we actually managed to get! Incredible, right?

We then went straight to one of our absolute favourite areas in Paris, which is Montmartre. Again, seeing it not overcrowded with tourists is much much better! Have you been here yet?

It was still 10am but we were already exhausted, so we went back to the hotel for some well needed coffee and breakfast. As our train was at 7pm in the evening (by the way, we very much suggest going by train with Eurostar from London rather than by plane!) we still had time to walk around, so what better choice than the nearby Musée du Louvre and Palais Royal?

We had lunch at a very typically French cafe along La Seine and it was time for us to check out. The hotel had a surprise for us and brought us up to see the view from their secret terrace, which was absolutely gorgeous as you had a glance of the Eiffel Tower, of Montmartre and of the Musée du Louvre.

After this breathtaking view, we thanked their lovely staff and headed to the train station. Au revoir Paris, it was a pleasure, as always!
