In this post we will talk about our experience at The Goring, a quintessentially British hotel able to bring you back in time.
Overview of the hotel
The Goring was built by Otto Goring in 1910, and has been lovingly run by the Goring family since its inception.
The inside of the hotel – that has been recently renovated – has a classic elegance and gives the feel of an old English Aristocratic Hotel. The interiors are beautifully enhanced by The Goring Gardens, one of the largest private gardens in London, which provide guests with the perfect setting to enjoy afternoon tea during the summer.
Today, The Goring remains one of the best hotels for anyone seeking out a quintessentially English luxury hotel in the centre of London.
Our stay
During our time at The Goring hotel, we stayed in one of their beautiful garden rooms, which had – of course – a view over their private garden.
On arrival we were greeted with very big smiles and were introduced to the hotel. The staff is very friendly and welcoming and really goes the extra mile to make sure you have a great stay, and can be therefore definitely considered one of the highlights of the hotel.
The room was really cosy and very elegantly decorated and it almost made you feel like going back in time. The view over the garden is very relaxing and gives you a feeling of privacy and of distinction, therefore we really enjoyed sipping our welcome cocktails with this charming view.
Even though we were really looking forward to trying the restaurant for dinner – which is one our favourite things when staying at a hotel – unfortunately there was no room for us so we decided to eat in the surrounding area and spent the night out.
Breakfast
People who know us well know that breakfast time is one of the favourite moments of our day. Our room had amazing lighting, so we were really looking forward to enjoying our breakfast with some lovely natural light and the view over the garden.
Everything was delicious, the only flaw was that the portions were quite small and we were left a little hungry. Not great when you spend all that energy taking pictures!
Afternoon tea
We were really looking forward to trying their award winning afternoon tea, as The Goring has been perfecting it since it opened its doors over a century ago.
The Dining Room is beautifully furnished and full of antiques, and the staff is very attentive and makes every detail count.
We were not disappointed and really enjoyed our experience in this cosy room and would definitely recommend it as a weekend treat.
We had a last walk through the garden – where we will surely have afternoon tea once the weather is better – and headed off back home.
