Bailey's Hotel London

Bailey's Hotel London

The hotel

The Bailey’s Hotel features a rich heritage history that is woven into the very fabric of London. It is set in a stunning Victorian era town-house and is over 140-years-old – one of the capital’s oldest existing hotels. Each of the hotel’s 212 guestrooms incorporates contemporary comfort and stylistic nods to the hotel’s unique heritage.

What made The Bailey’s Hotel London so desirable is it’s incredible position, just a stone’s throw away from some of London’s best attractions, including the Natural History Museum, Science Museum and an array of the city’s best bars, restaurants and department stores.

Our stay

We checked-into our Junior Suite, which was a combination of old fashion charm and modern elegance, with beautifully outfitted with authentic Victorian features and hardwood floors.

The hotel decided to spoil us and surprised us with a delicious Pretty Little London themed cake and a bottle of Moet Chandon, our favourite champagne.

Bar and restaurant

After relaxing in our room, we decided to get cosy in the bar with a nice glass of the house red wine. With high ceilings and opulent wood furnishings, the Olives Bar is perfect for a drink on a freezing January evening, which is exactly what we did!

After our exceptional drinks at the bar, we really couldn’t wait for our dinner at the elegant and warm Olives restaurant, lead by Chef Davide Di Croce. The menu features rich, authentic flavours with traditional Italian classics.

Our lovely waitress Imola – who made sure that we weren’t missing anything during the evening – talked us through the menu. Everything sounded delicious, but in the end we decided to go for Frittura di gamberi e verza croccante (Deep-fried prawns and crispy kale with Mediterranean aioli) for two as a starter plus a plate of Spaghetti all’astice e granchio (Home-made spaghetti with lobster, crab, garlic and chilli ) and Purple Potato Gnocchi.

The pasta was truly exceptional, as you would expect from an Italian restaurant (unfortunately that is not always the case!).

As per mains, we went for the very tempting Grilled aged rib-eye steak, which was cooked to perfection and the Tuna steak.

All these delicious plates, together with an excellent choice of pairing wines, made this one of the best dinner experiences we have had in a little time. Who said you need to go out on a Saturday night to have a good time?

Breakfast

In room breakfast is always something to look forward to during a hotel stay. It gives you that “home away from home” feeling, and a bad breakfast can often change our mind on how we rate a hotel. Fortunately, the Bailey’s Hotel made a great job out of it.

The setting was perfect and put us in the right mood for a nice morning stroll.

The neighbourhood

The Bailey’s Hotel is in an ideal position for shopping and for visiting museums. At less than 10 minutes by foot, you can find the Natural History Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum. So why not go for some ice skating at their stunning ice rink?

We ended our morning with some shopping at nearby Harrods, to take advantage of their January sales whilst we had the chance!

Time to check out here at the Bailey’s Hotel, we can’t wait to come back again for dinner or – why not – another stay.
